Introduce
Renzo Ricci (1899–1978) was an Italian stage actor and director known for his pioneering work in modern theater. Trained at the Accademia dei Fidenti, he began his professional career in 1915 and later formed a touring company with Eva Magni. Renowned for his introspective approach to character portrayal, Ricci collaborated with directors such as Guido Salvini, Renato Simoni, and Luchino Visconti. He famously restaged Albert Camus’ “Caligula” and premiered Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey into Night” in Italy. Ricci also worked as a voice actor, notably dubbing the Crucifix character in the “Don Camillo” films. He is buried in Florence.
