Introduce

Luigi Villoresi was a famous Italian racing driver, born on May 16, 1909, in Milan. He was the son of Esther and Gaetano Villoresi, who belonged to a wealthy family in Milan. Luigi’s grandfather, Eugenio Villoresi, was the engineer who designed the Villoresi Canal, while an ancestor of Luigi with the same name was a renowned botanist and landscape architect of the 19th century. Luigi Villoresi had an innate passion for motorsport from a young age. Alongside his brother Emilio, with whom he shared this passion, he pursued a career in racing. However, the tragic death of Emilio in 1939 during a test with an Alfa Romeo Alfetta at the Monza circuit deeply affected Luigi. Despite the family tragedy, Luigi continued his career in the world of motor racing, becoming one of the most famous drivers of his time. His career included numerous victories and participations in important races and motor racing championships, such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.
