Galeazzo Ciano

Gian Galeazzo Ciano, Count of Cortellazzo and Buccari (born in Livorno on March 18, 1903, died in Verona on January 11, 1944), was an Italian nobleman, diplomat, and politician. Born to Admiral Costanzo Ciano and Carolina Pini, in 1930 he married Edda Mussolini. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1936 to 1943. He supported the Grandi’s motion that led to the dismissal of Benito Mussolini, for which he was sentenced on January 10, 1944, during the Verona trial and executed the following day.
