Fiat Halley
The Fiat Halley by Carrozzeria Maggiora, named in homage to the comet, was successfully exhibited in 1985 in Frankfurt and 1986 in Turin.
Vehicle Overview
The Fiat Halley was built due the friendship between Paolo Martin and Bruno Maggiora , after the 1984 Gobi. The chassis of the very popular Fiat Uno model, was chosen with the intention of doing something new despite its size and the segment to which it belonged. Strong and confident of the experience in the field, Paolo Martin began to think about the possibility of intervening on all the details that normally all the great manufacturers of that time did not care so much. First of all the Fiat Halley, designed in 1984, was the forerunner of today’s minivans and its profile shape suggested the ease of transformation into an eventual roofless model. The hood has slid up for safety reasons. Front and rear sun visors were integrated into the roof, door-side seats were split and joined for easy in / out access, brake discs were dynamically hyperventilated and with a braking device that opened the rim fairing from 20 mm by channeling the air onto the disc. The taillights of the Fiat Halley had a polarizing filter to be visible in the fog. It also had a dynamic internal air extractor on the rear side. Unfortunately, a big conditioning to the design was the use of the chassis, which was intentionally without modifications of the main frames, such as the doors, sills, track and tank, so that it could easily be produced for the series. The then deputy Dr. Ghidella wanted the car in Fiat for a while and was very satisfied with the results obtained.
