Tesla Model S Convertible

The Tesla Model S Convertible built by italian coachbuilder Ares Modena.

Vehicle Overview

The Tesla Model S Convertible, crafted by Modena-based atelier Ares Modena, transforms Tesla’s sleek sedan into an eye-catching, two-door open-top luxury vehicle. Known for their ambitious automotive projects, Ares Design undertook significant modifications to create this unique Model S variant. Engineers began by removing the sedan’s roof, rear doors, and the crucial B-pillars, reinforcing the vehicle’s structure to maintain rigidity without these elements. They then added longer front doors, enhancing the car’s elegant lines while ensuring ease of access and a spacious feel. To manage the convertible top, Centro Stile, Ares Design’s in-house team, designed a new rear bonnet with storage space for the roof when retracted, maintaining the car’s streamlined silhouette in either configuration. For an added touch of refinement, the Model S Convertible is outfitted with a bespoke carbon fiber aero kit, bringing a dose of Italian flair to the Tesla’s futuristic design. This custom aero package subtly enhances the vehicle’s performance while lending it a sophisticated, sporty aesthetic—an ideal complement to the Model S’s electric prowess. The result is a one-of-a-kind EV that combines the exhilarating experience of open-top driving with the all-electric performance Tesla is celebrated for. Ares Design didn’t stop with the convertible; they also reimagined the Tesla Model S as a wagon, catering to enthusiasts seeking additional practicality and cargo space without compromising on style. CEO Dany Bahar, inspired by his daily experience with the Model S sedan, envisioned a versatile estate variant that could meet the needs of drivers wanting more functionality. Engineers redesigned the rear of the car with a new roofline and extended cargo area, utilizing lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber to preserve the Model S’s performance dynamics. This Model S Wagon also received the signature Ares carbon fiber aero kit, infusing the estate version with the same refined Italian styling as the convertible. Together, Ares Design’s Model S Convertible and Wagon demonstrate the flexibility of Tesla’s EV platform, merging luxury and innovation with Italian craftsmanship. Though neither model has moved into production, these conversions represent the creative potential of EV customization, appealing to Tesla enthusiasts with unique visions of style and versatility.
