Spada Codatronca Monza
Presented as a concept car in April 2011 at the Top Marques in Monaco, the car went on sale immediately afterwards, in a limited edition of around 10-20 units per year. It is a car derived directly from the 2008 Codatronca TS, with respect to which it differs in the bodywork, no longer of the berlinetta type, but of the barchetta type, with a very low windscreen.
Vehicle Overview
The Spada Codatronca Monza ‘s mechanical base also incorporates what has already been seen on the TS, that is the mighty V8 engine of Corvette Z06 origin, with a displacement of 7011 cm³, revised and made even more performing thanks to the use of two Italtecnica Rotrex C38 volumetric compressors, which greatly contribute to bring the maximum power of the car from the original 513 hp of the Z06 to 720 hp available on the Spada Codatronca Monza (against the 620 hp of the berlinetta version), and a considerable amount of torque is also available, which reaches its peak at 883 Nm With such a cavalry and thanks also to an empty weight limited to only 1,180 kg, the car can reach a top speed of 335 km / h, covering the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds. As for the structure, a low weight tubular aluminum alloy frame is used, but also body panels in composite material. The suspensions and the braking system are taken directly from the FIA GT3 cars, while the steering wheel equipped with a real-time data acquisition system and another system for controlling a camera integrated in the car is very particular, in order to being able to create a high definition video of the car’s performance on the track. The cockpit also makes use of light materials, and strictly racing inspiration. For small series production, the Spada Codatronca Monza was also proposed with a less extreme variant of its engine, capable of delivering the considerable power of 500 HP. In addition, wealthy buyers who want to close one in their garage will also be able to set up the car in a less spartan way, and indeed as a real luxury roadster, with leather and alcantara interiors, hi-fi system, a specific dashboard and even the air conditioning and a higher windscreen equipped with a wiper.
