Siata Daina Berlinetta Lusso

SIATA, acronym of Italian Society of Automotive Applications Transformations, was founded in 1926 in Turin by the driver Giorgio Ambrosini and has its headquarters not far from FIAT, a company for which SIATA is dedicated to developing mechanical modifications for their production cars by building components high yields to be applied to production cars.

Vehicle Overview

The Siata Daina Berlinetta Lusso: For each new FIAT model, SIATA prepares a kit to be applied to the engine and the results are not long in coming: Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, La Mans are just some of the races in which cars modified by SIATA stand out. Ambrosini also acquires Carrozzeria Mantelli and is dedicated to the construction of sporting bodies on FIAT chassis. During the war period, SIATA moved near Ivrea and is managed by Renato Ambrosini, son of the founder who, thanks to the perfect use of the English language, began to maintain important relationships with the importers of overseas cars. In 1952 Renato Ambrosini made his first trip to the United States but SIATA has already begun the production of highly successful models such as the Daina based on FIAT 1400 and the little Amica. It is during this journey that Ambrosini makes contact with Ernie McAfee, importer of Italian cars and John Perona, passionate about cars, who open the new overseas market at SIATA where they will achieve great sporting success. The symbolic car of SIATA production is the 1950 Daina designed by the brilliant Rudolf Hruska ex Porsche and Cisitalia. It is a grand tourer with an Italian line both in the Coupè and in the convertible version, both with bodywork from Stabilimenti Farina. The mechanical parts are those of the FIAT 1400 which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1950. The most successful model is the Siata Daina Berlinetta Lusso and Gran Sport (spider), designed by SIATA but built by Bertone or Stabilimenti Farina. On this model the displacement has increased up to 1480 cc for 76 HP at 5500 rpm. Both stand out in national competitions such as the Mille Miglia but also on the US circuits where they obtain prestigious class successes. This car is a 1951 Daina Sport in the very rare “Berlinetta” version, designed by Stabilimenti Farina.
