The Porsche GTS built by Stola.
Vehicle Overview
The Porsche GTS by Stola is a unique prototype that showcases the craftsmanship and innovation of Italian coachbuilding. After the Turin Motor Show was discontinued in 2001, Stola S.p.A. saw an opportunity to participate in the Geneva Motor Show in 2003, a prestigious international event. This platform allowed them to connect with a global audience, presenting their expertise to existing clients and attracting potential new ones. In March 2002, Stola decided to create the GTS, using the Porsche Boxster 986 coupe as a foundation. The result, revealed at the 73rd Geneva Motor Show, was a concept car that balanced cutting-edge performance with a nod to motorsport heritage. The GTS combined sleek aerodynamics with a striking blue and orange livery, inspired by endurance racing icons, reflecting both technical precision and artistic design. The GTS was engineered for exceptional performance. The chassis, while maintaining its Porsche origins, was lowered by 4 cm to 1250 mm and lengthened to 4470 mm to improve aerodynamics. Under the hood, the car featured a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 480 horsepower and 600 N·m of torque. This powertrain enabled the GTS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h. The car’s lightweight construction, with a total weight of just 1260 kg, provided a power-to-weight ratio of 380.95 horsepower per tonne, ensuring a dynamic and responsive driving experience. Braking performance was enhanced with water-cooled systems, while the suspension was reengineered to handle the car’s increased power and agility, delivering exceptional handling and stability. Every detail of the GTS was meticulously crafted to create a driving experience that balanced modern performance with classic inspiration. Although plans were initially made to produce three units of the GTS, it remained a rare and exclusive creation, symbolizing Stola’s dedication to quality and innovation. This concept car serves as a testament to Stola’s rich heritage, blending Italian craftsmanship with engineering excellence.
