The origin of the Frogster’s name is an interesting story in itself. The concept car took inspiration from an early Opel model from the 1920s known as the “Laubfrosch” (German for “Tree Frog”). The Laubfrosch earned its nickname from the younger generation of the era due to its vibrant green color. When the Opel design team was brainstorming for a new concept car, they were inspired by the success and appeal of the Opel Speedster. Amid discussions, someone humorously suggested, “paint it green and call it the Frogster,” leading to the birth of the name. True to its roots, the Frogster concept indeed sported a striking green exterior. The Opel Frogster was built by the renowned Italian design house Bertone, known for crafting visually captivating and technically advanced vehicles. By combining a playful aesthetic with transformative capabilities and cutting-edge technology, the Opel Frogster symbolized Opel’s willingness to push boundaries and think outside the box.
