In 1999 the profitable partnership with the German manufacturer, which has produced great cars such as the Opel Kadett Cabrio and the Astra Cabrio, came up with the coupé version of the compact Opel.
The Opel Astra Coupé was presented at the 58th Frankfurt Motor Show. IT represents a dynamic evolutiorn for the Astra. The door frame and second roof pillar in black come together to create a single lateral style element. The lines of the bodywork are all about power and understated elegance. A Cx of 0.28, together with the wrap-around bumpers and aggressive-looking air inlets, underline the sporty feel of the Astra Coupé. Its designers took the Astra chassis and lowered it by 20 mm to accommodate the brilliant ECOTEC engines selected for the new Coupé. The bodywork comes in a wide range of colours, with great scope for mixing and matching exterior hues and interior design, and the styling of the seats is pure sports. Created for clients in search of the perfect blend of style and performance, the Astra Coupé comes with a choice of three engines: 115 Hp 1600 cc., 147 Hp 1800 cc., and 190 Hp 2000 Turbo. The Opel Astra Coupé was produced in the Bertone factory in Grugliasco.
