The OSCA 1600 GT Cabriolet Fissore.

Vehicle Overview

The OSCA 1600 GT Cabriolet Fissore is a remarkable car that reflects the engineering prowess and racing heritage of OSCA, the company founded by the Maserati brothers: Ernesto, Ettore, and Bindo; in 1947. Known for their focus on small, high-performance sports cars, OSCA was born after the Maserati brothers parted ways with their original company, Maserati. Their aim was to build cars that could compete in the 1100 cc racing class, and over time, they became known for crafting vehicles with finely tuned engines and lightweight designs. Among the 128 factory-built examples, a select few adorned bodies crafted by renowned artisans including Fissore, Boneschi, Morelli, and Zagato.T The OSCA 1600 GT2 Cabriolet Fissore was one of the last cars designed by the Maserati brothers before they sold the company in 1963. Fissore, an Italian coachbuilder, was responsible for the sleek and elegant bodywork of this limited-production cabriolet. Only 24 examples were produced, making it a rare and sought-after vehicle among collectors today. At the heart of OSCA’s GT venture lay the 1600 GT, a masterful fusion of tubular-steel spaceframe chassis and the potent twin-cam engine. Imbued with a higher state of tune, the 1600 GT epitomized performance and elegance. The car was built on a tubular chassis designed by the Maserati brothers, ensuring both lightness and rigidity—perfect for a nimble sports car. The 1600 GT2 is powered by a robust 1.6-liter, four-cylinder, twin-cam engine, fitted with double Weber 38 DCOE carburetors, delivering an impressive 105 horsepower. This engine, combined with a four-speed gearbox, provides a thrilling driving experience that harkens back to OSCA’s racing roots. The car’s design embodies Italian automotive elegance, with Fissore’s touch adding refinement and luxury to the racing-inspired mechanical underpinnings. Proudly showcased at the Turin Motor Show in October 1963, this model represents a transitional period in automotive history, where racing technology was still being adapted into road cars, blending high performance with style. As one of the last cars produced by OSCA before the company ceased operations in 1967, the OSCA 1600 GT Cabriolet Fissore stands as a testament to the Maserati brothers’ enduring legacy in automotive engineering and design.
