Monteverdi High Speed 375/4
The Monteverdi High Speed 375/4 by Fissore.
Vehicle Overview
The Monteverdi High Speed is a distinguished series of sports cars produced by the Swiss automaker Monteverdi from 1967 to 1976. This series encompassed various coupe models, a convertible, and a sedan, all showcasing Monteverdi’s commitment to luxury and performance. One notable model within the High Speed series is the Monteverdi High Speed 375/4 sedan. Built by Carrozzeria Fissore, this model featured an extended wheelbase of 3.15 meters, providing a spacious and luxurious interior. Despite the extended wheelbase, the sedan retained the same technical specifications and drivetrain as its coupe counterparts. The design included a consistent front end that seamlessly joined the A-pillar, and the body featured four wide-opening doors with door handles sourced from the Fiat 128. The roof section was sharply defined, and the trunk was extended, maintaining a straight beltline from front to back. The interior of the High Speed 375/4 was a showcase of luxury, covered in leather and equipped with modern conveniences such as air conditioning and power windows. For those seeking additional luxury, a Sony TV could be installed upon request. The sedan was designed to function as a chauffeured limousine if needed, with some units featuring a partition between the driver and passenger compartments. Externally, the design details of the High Speed 375/4 varied over time, often reflecting customer preferences. For instance, a later model was outfitted with two rectangular headlamps borrowed from the Ford Granada, a matte black radiator grille, and rubber-covered bumpers, offering a distinct appearance. Initially, the sedan used tail lights from the Alfa Romeo Giulia, but later models adopted tail lights from the Triumph TR6, which had also been used on Monteverdi’s Berlinetta. This change gave the sedan a more contemporary look.
