The Maserati GranCabrio designed by Pininfarina.
The Maserati GranCabrio, also known as the GranTurismo Convertible, is the convertible iteration of the GranTurismo S Automatic, featuring a canvas folding roof. Maintaining the four-seat layout of the GranTurismo coupé, it stands out as Maserati’s first ever four-seater convertible. The GranCabrio was revealed to the public at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with production starting in 2010. This elegant vehicle, designed by Pininfarina, was manufactured at the Maserati factory on Viale Ciro Menotti. European sales of the GranCabrio were slated to commence in February 2010, with the United States market receiving the first units a month later. The planned sales target for 2010 was set at 2,100 units, with two-thirds of these intended for the U.S. market. This strategic distribution highlights the significant demand expected in North America. Under the hood, the Maserati GranCabrio boasts the same 4.7-litre V8 engine found in the GranTurismo S Automatic. This powerplant is rated at 440 PS (324 kW; 434 hp) at 7,000 rpm and delivers a torque of 490 N⋅m (361 lb⋅ft) at 4,750 rpm, ensuring robust performance and a thrilling driving experience. The GranCabrio is considered the successor to the 2002 Maserati Spyder, continuing Maserati’s tradition of combining luxury, performance, and stylish design in a convertible format. The vehicle’s introduction was a pivotal moment for the brand, aiming to capture the market’s attention with its blend of elegance, power, and practicality. The GranCabrio not only redefined Maserati’s convertible offerings but also underscored the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the luxury sports car segment.
