Vehicle Overview
The Maserati A6G 2000 Allemano, officially named the Maserati A6 G 2000 Gran Turismo but widely referred to as the A6G 54, is a legendary example of 1950s automotive craftsmanship. This model succeeded the earlier A6G 2000, which had been in production from 1950 to 1953, and carried Maserati’s tradition of blending high-performance engineering with elegant, custom coachwork. To create the A6G 2000, Maserati collaborated with some of the era’s most prestigious coachbuilders, resulting in a series of distinct designs that have become highly sought after by collectors. Among these, Carrozzeria Allemano created 21 examples of the A6G 2000, labeled as “Type C.” Other versions included the Frua Spyder (“Type A”), Frua Coupé (“Type B”), and Zagato Coupé (“Type D”). Each coachbuilder brought its own interpretation of style and sophistication to the A6G platform, making this series one of the most diverse and iconic in Maserati’s history. The A6G 2000 Allemano was characterized by its understated elegance and finely balanced proportions. Giovanni Michelotti, one of the most influential designers of the time, played a key role in shaping the Allemano-bodied coupé. Its sleek lines, subtle chrome accents, and hand-crafted details made it a true work of art. Inside, the car offered a luxurious cabin featuring bespoke materials and meticulous attention to detail, catering to an elite clientele. Beneath its stylish exterior, the A6G 2000 featured advanced engineering. Powered by a 2.0-liter inline-six engine with twin overhead camshafts, the car produced 150 horsepower, delivering a refined yet exhilarating driving experience. Paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, the A6G 2000 was capable of reaching impressive speeds for its time, making it not only a luxurious grand tourer but also a capable performer on the road. The Maserati A6G 2000 Allemano stands as a testament to Maserati’s dedication to craftsmanship, innovation, and collaboration with Italy’s finest coachbuilders. With only 21 examples ever built by Allemano, this model remains one of the rarest and most coveted Maseratis, embodying the golden era of bespoke automotive design.
