The story of Zagato Milano

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 and developed in collaboration with Zagato, the Ypsilon Sport was powered by a 1.9 liter Multijet Diesel engine.
The Lancia Ypsilon Sport, created in collaboration with the Zagato Design Center, retains the line of the production sedan, but with a more muscular and racy appearance. The car, based on the third-generation Y, was developed by the Zagato Design Center and, contrary to what the trade press wrote at the time, was not meant to mark Lancia’s return to the racing world. The Ypsilon Sport was designed to make this passenger car, often approached only as a female target, more aggressive and masculine. Beyond the design, more “muscular” and “arrogant,” and the color choices, two-tone bodywork in those years was not yet so widespread, the Ypsilon Sport by Zagato had a powerful “heart” under the hood: for the first time in the city car segment a powerful turbodiesel 1.9 16v Multijet boosted to 150 hp (110 kW at 4,100 rpm) and with a maximum torque of 306 Nm at 2,000 rpm was used. A generous powerplant that allowed the Sport respectable performance: top speed of 212 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, 0 to 1000 meters in 28.9 seconds, 5.3 seconds to go from 60 to 100 km/h (in fifth gear) and 7.3 seconds from 80 to 120 km/h (in sixth gear). A true fireball. The Lancia Ypsilon Sport by Zagato, also characterized by the Z on the pillar, never went into production but made more than one heart beat, because it delivered to a city car an extremely sporty feel.
