The New Stratos by Manifattura Automobili Torino
Vehicle Overview
The New Stratos is a sports coupe, a re-edition of the Lancia Stratos, based on a Ferrari F430. The car, initially created in 2010 as a one-off made by Pininfarina, was produced in a limited edition by Manifattura Automobili Torino in 2018. It all started back when industrialist and collector Michael Stoscheck contacted then Pininfarina’s Special Projects Manager Paolo Garella with a specific request: building a one-off reinterpretation of the legendary Lancia Stratos from the 1970s. After the marching one-off in 2010, rumors began to leak about a future small series production. This news was disclosed by Michael Stoschek himself, but not confirmed by the other interested parties; on the contrary, in the circumstance Ferrari announced not to grant any technical support for the small series production of the New Stratos, and Pininfarina also declared itself extraneous to the intention of starting a hypothetical commercial initiative of the model on its own or on behalf of third parties. After years of silence, the New Stratos project made a comeback in 2017 when the engineer Garella, meanwhile the founder of Manifattura Automobili Torino, made himself available to support, on behalf of his company, a limited series production of the model. «Estimated at 25 units», started after a new debut of the car at the Geneva motor show in 2018.
