Lancia Kandahar
The Lancia Kandahar: Fioravanti’s take on the Lancia Musa.
Vehicle Overview
The Lancia Kandahar is a concept that explores the idea of a small, all-road MPV, with designer Fioravanti selecting the Lancia Musa as the perfect base to highlight both functionality and aesthetics. Fioravanti’s prior work on the Lancia Y’s aesthetic design also played a role in this choice, as the Kandahar reflects the brand’s core values in its design language. One of the standout features of the Lancia Kandahar is its updated front and rear bumpers, which have been reworked to integrate seamlessly with the car’s sides, now enhanced with new protective elements. However, the most significant changes can be found in the roof design. Drawing inspiration from Fioravanti’s Kite concept, the Kandahar incorporates the innovative “K” roof technology. This feature allows the cabin to feel more open and airy, with natural light pouring in, without the need for movable parts or electrical mechanisms for opening and closing. Additionally, the rear section of the roof is designed to maintain a sense of privacy, reminiscent of Lancia’s signature style with its characteristic lateral windows. The Lancia Kandahar also boasts a practical, reimagined trunk space. Thanks to a rear overhang and the repositioning of the rear bar, the trunk’s capacity has been increased by at least 20%, making it easier to load larger items. The trunk area is finished with a sleek hatch that, when closed, also serves as a transparent cover for integrated LED lights in the roof frame, adding a touch of sophistication. The rear windshield wiper is cleverly integrated into the rear element, serving a dual function as a reverse light as well, further emphasizing Lancia’s attention to design detail. Inside, the Kandahar’s cabin is adorned with Tek wood panelling in the trunk, showcasing both its functional and aesthetic appeal. This wood is echoed in distinctive touches on the door panels and dashboard, bringing warmth and elegance to the interior. The trunk is also uniquely lit with an original solution, further enhancing the vehicle’s modern and thoughtful design. Overall, the Lancia Kandahar is a compelling concept, blending practicality with the elegant styling Lancia is known for.
