In September 1963 a new version of the Lancia Flaminia GT Touring was born, with a increased wheelbase, which can now accommodate 2 people on the rear seats, a so-called 2 + 2 version. This new version is identified as “3C-GTL
The Lancia Flaminia GTL Touring was introduced by Carrozzeria Touring in 1963 in order to provide 2+2 seating capability compared to it rakish sister Touring GT which was a two-seater, with only a carpeted shelf behind the seats. The 2,520-mm wheelbase of the GT was lengthened by 80 mm, although the overall length increased only 30 mm. More dramatic was the 70-mm increase in height, which lends the GTL an airier greenhouse. Over-engineered and over-built, the Flaminia line offered better handling and greater refinement than its Italian contemporaries from Modena and Maranello, but typically less power. So, the Flaminia engine was enlarged and updated, culminating in the 2.8-litre 3C, with triple Weber double-downdraft carburettors giving 150 bhp. With its refinement and impressive build quality, the Lancia Flaminia GTL Touring was a grand tourer in the genuine sense.
