A short history about the partnership between Pininfarina and Lancia, and the design evolution.
The Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider.
The Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider: According to many automobile historians, this spider is considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built in the world. “When you see an Aurelia B24, you are not content to look at it, you would like also to touch it” Franco Martinengo loved to say, who was for twenty years (from 1952 to 1972) director of the Centro Stile Pininfarina. Several people worked on the B24 project, including: Francesco Salomone, Adriano Rabbone, Aldo Brovarone, Luigi Chicco and Giacomo Borgogno. For many years Pininfarina himself will keep and drive a version with a blue hard top. The pre-series prototype of the Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider is seen darting for the first time in the city avenues of Turin, in the second half of 1954. The idea of the young Gianni Lancia is that of an elite, sporty product with a line that winks at overseas trends. He commissions the first specimen to Pininfarina, which already has experience, having made a spider in 1951 for the American Nash.
