The Lancia Aprilia Spider Basso by Carrozzeria Ghia.
This Lancia Aprilia Spider Basso was registered in 1951 in Alghero, Sardinia, it has the 1956 number plates of the Province of Naples. A splendid custom-built car created by Ghia on a tubular chassis designed and developed by Giovanni Basso, the Turin car designer who, in addition to patenting a number of systems ranging from lubrication to the twin-shaft cylinder head, dedicated himself to the construction of special tubular frames. These bodies were “developed” by the most renowned coachbuilders of the time and successfully employed in the sports car sector, and presented at the most important competitions of elegance. This is the case of the Lancia Aprilia Spider Basso, made entirely of aluminium and exhibited at the Concorso d’Eleganza of Villa d’Este in 1949. It is estimated that only three examples were made of this model.
