The Jaguar E-Type Drogo, while certainly an interesting deviation from the classic E-Type lineup, falls short of the iconic beauty associated with its predecessors. Originally owned by a gentleman driver from Nice, France, Chassis #886294 underwent a significant transformation after being involved in an accident in its original E-Type 3.8 Fixed Head Coupé form. Entrusted with its reconstruction, Piero Drogo of Carrozzeria Sports Cars embarked on an unconventional approach, fashioning a unique body for the vehicle. While this rendition of the E-Type departed from the traditional aesthetics that made the E-Type famous, it still retained the essence of Jaguar’s design language. Constructed on a steel monocoque chassis and preserving all the original Jaguar mechanical components, the E-Type by Piero Drogo maintained its connection to its Jaguar heritage. Drawing inspiration from designs by Bertone’s Pirana and certain Ghia creations, the E-Type Drogo showcased an intriguing blend of influences. However, despite its distinctiveness, it ultimately falls short of achieving the same level of aesthetic success as its counterparts in the classic Jaguar lineup. While captivating in its own right, the Drogo rendition lacks the timeless elegance and allure that define the classic E-Type.
