The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8C Monterosa Sedan by Touring.
The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8C Monterosa Sedan by Touring is one of two Tipo 8C Monterosa models crafted by Carrozzeria Touring from Milan, the other being a two-door version. The four-door Sedan was first presented at the 1947 Paris Motor Show and the 1947 Carrozzeria Exhibition in Milan. This model, showcasing the high craftsmanship of Carrozzeria Touring, was kept by Isotta Fraschini for a significant period before becoming part of the esteemed Lopresto Collection. In addition to the Touring-bodied Sedan, another prototype featuring Boneschi bodywork is part of the Lopresto Collextion, making it one of the only two surviving models of the 8C Monterosa. The four-door Sedan was later unveiled at the 1949 Geneva Motor Show, further highlighting its unique design and innovative features. The Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8C Monterosa was an ambitious project aiming to reestablish the brand’s prestige in the post-war automotive industry. Despite its innovative design and the expertise of its coachbuilders, the high production costs and market challenges meant that the Tipo 8C Monterosa did not progress beyond the prototype stage. All Monterosa’s were bodied by Milan based coachbuilders, in addition to the already mentioned Touring and Boneschi, also Zagato made its own version. Today, the remaining examples, including the Touring-bodied Sedan, stand as testaments to the era’s experimentation and the high level of Italian craftsmanship.
