Glas Isar Pick-Up
The Glas Isar Pick-Up with a practical loading area was designed by Frua in 1964. This vehicle was inspired by the American models.
Vehicle Overview
The Glas Isar Pick-Up was based on the unchanged technology of a 700 sedan from 1964. Everything remained as known up to the B-pillar. From here on, the rear superstructure was separated and replaced by a loading area that was blended with the body. The side walls were solid, only the rear side wall could be folded down. The driver’s cab was closed to the rear with extensive glazing. Pietro Frua had provided a removable sheet metal roof as an accessory for the loading area. This box structure was to be attached with simple quick-release fasteners. It towered over the driver’s cab by about 30 cm and had a glazed flap swinging upwards at the rear. This Isar could have been the first pick-up made in Germany. But GLAS did not think of series production. The Glas Isar Pick-Up remained a one-off and is now in the hands of a GLAS Club member.
