Vehicle Overview

The Foxtron Model B is a fully electric vehicle developed by Foxtron, a joint venture between Foxconn and Yulon Motor. It is built on the same Foxtron MIH platform as the earlier Foxtron Model C SUV, and its sleek and modern design was crafted by the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina under the direction of Kevin Rice. The Model B prototype was first unveiled during Hon Hai Tech Day on October 18, 2022, and captured significant attention due to its stylish design and potential market impact. The prototype’s size and market segment led to early comparisons with the Volkswagen ID.3, but its dimensions and positioning align more closely with competitors like the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-30. In 2023, an updated version of the Model B was revealed, with Foxtron confirming the vehicle would enter production. There is speculation that it will be marketed by Luxgen in Taiwan under the name “Luxgen n5,” as Luxgen had filed for a trademark on this name in 2023. Production is expected to begin in 2023 at an unspecified location in China, with plans to expand to Lordstown Assembly in the United States in 2024. In terms of performance, the Foxtron Model B is designed to offer an impressive range, particularly in the planned long-range version, which is estimated to exceed 500 km (310 miles) under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Buyers will have the option of a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration or a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version. Sharing components with the Luxgen n7, the single-motor version is expected to deliver a maximum output of 230 horsepower (170 kW) and utilize a 60 kWh traction battery, providing a range of up to 450 km (280 miles) on the NEDC cycle. The Foxtron Model B represents an ambitious entry into the competitive electric vehicle market, with the backing of major industry players and the design pedigree of Pininfarina, positioning it as a strong contender in the compact electric crossover segment.
