Fiat 600 Bijou Vignale

The Fiat 600 Bijou by Carrozzeria Vignale.

Vehicle Overview

The Bijou, Carrozzeria Vignale‘s luxurious interpretation of the Fiat 600, was a standout among the “elaborate” versions crafted by Italian coachbuilders. Unveiled at the 1955 Turin Auto Salon. like its counterparts, this model featured a myriad of modifications, offered at a base price of 800,000 Lire (approximately 30,000 Euros today). Alongside the Fiat 600 Touring “Seicentouring” and the Ghia De Luxe, the Bijou was among the most expensive versions on the market. The Fiat 600 Bijou boasted a two-tone paint job, setting it apart visually. Unique rear fenders with a slight hint of fins and bumpers with added rostri (bumper guards) enhanced its distinctive look. A fake front grille was added, and the turn signal indicators were repositioned, with additional side indicators added for improved visibility. The body featured welded seams on the front section, adding to its refined construction. The engine hood included a lock with a key for added security, and chrome moldings adorned the sides of the vehicle. Compass-opening rear windows, a windshield washer system, chromed wheel discs, and chrome caps on the rain gutters further emphasized the luxurious design. Inside, the Bijou was equally impressive, featuring two-tone faux leather upholstery that added a touch of elegance. The dashboard was covered in leather, enhancing the overall aesthetic and feel of the cabin. A small shelf under the dashboard provided practical storage space, and plush daino (deerskin) carpets added to the opulent interior. The Fiat 600 Bijou by Vignale exemplified the height of automotive luxury in its era, blending unique design elements with high-end materials and craftsmanship, making it a coveted choice for enthusiasts seeking a refined and distinctive vehicle.
