The Fiat 1200 Coupé OSI by Officine Stampaggio Industriale.
The Fiat 1200 Coupé OSI is an extremely rare and unique automobile, with only 70 units ever produced, making it one of the rarest models from Officine Stampaggio Industriale (OSI). The Turin-based Italian coachbuilder OSI was founded in 1960 by Luigi Segre, the former president of Ghia, and quickly gained a reputation for crafting innovative and stylish cars. The Fiat 1200 Coupé OSI, a distinctive variant of the Fiat 1200, was part of a limited production run that also included 280 Spider models, highlighting the exclusivity of the Coupé version. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, the 1200 Coupé OSI stood out for its sleek and modern design, embodying the elegance and style of the early 1960s. Its clean lines, balanced proportions, and attention to detail made it a significant departure from the more conventional Fiat 1200 models of the time. The car’s compact size, paired with its refined styling, made it an ideal example of the kind of bespoke, limited-production vehicles OSI was known for. OSI presented the Fiat 1200 Coupé OSI at the Salone dell’Automobile di Torino (Turin Motor Show) in 1964, where it was showcased alongside the OSI 1200 Spider and OSI’s interpretation of the Fiat 850 Coupé, also designed by Michelotti. This event marked OSI’s second appearance at the show, reinforcing its growing presence in the automotive industry. The company also used the 1964 Turin Motor Show as a platform to display several other custom projects, including the Innocenti Spider S, the Ford Anglia Torino, the Fiat 1300/1500 Familiare, and the Lancia Superjolly Furgone. The Fiat 1200 Coupé OSI’s rarity and elegant design ensure its place as a coveted collector’s item, admired by enthusiasts of Italian automotive craftsmanship. Its limited production, combined with the unique collaboration between OSI and Michelotti, makes this model a timeless piece of automotive history, cherished by collectors and classic car aficionados alike.
