The Fiat 1100ES Coupé Pininfarina was a remarkable vehicle, epitomizing elegance, luxury, and Italian design flair. Unveiled in Geneva in 1949, this coupé model represented a departure from the standard Fiat 1100, boasting a more refined and sophisticated appearance reminiscent of the esteemed Lancia Aurelia B20 GT. With its sleek and aerodynamic front screen, the Fiat Coupé exuded a sense of grace and style that evoked the finest Italian coachwork of its time. The slender and shapely bodywork reflected the design sensibilities seen in prestigious brands like Maserati, Siata, Stanguellini, and Cisitalia. Externally, the Fiat S and ES models were indistinguishable, but it was the interior where the ES truly shone. Featuring a well-appointed dashboard, a front bench seat, and a small bench seat in the rear, the ES provided a luxurious and comfortable driving experience unparalleled by its contemporaries. Every detail, from the pushbutton switches to the exterior door handles, showcased Fiat’s commitment to refinement and craftsmanship. The Fiat 1100ES Coupé Pininfarina garnered numerous accolades at prestigious concours d’élégance events, solidifying its status as a timeless automotive masterpiece. While officially 400 specimens were produced until 1951, today, fewer than ten examples are believed to exist worldwide, further enhancing its allure and desirability among collectors and enthusiasts alike.
An elegant convertible, built in 1949 on the popular Fiat 1100 B chassis by Stabilimenti Farina in very few speciments, remains the emblem of this extraordinary coachbuilding of cars in the early 1950s. The resemblance to Ferrari’s 166 Inter is surprising, which let to controversy between Giovanni Farina and Enzo Ferrari.
