Ferrari GG50
The Ferrari GG50, created on the basis of the 612 Scaglietti, of which it retains the entire mechanical configuration, is slightly shorter than the original model with a fastback tail that conceals a real tailgate.
Vehicle Overview
In celebration of his 50-year legacy in car design, Giorgetto Giugiaro conceived the Ferrari GG50, a remarkable fusion of tradition and innovation. Beginning in 2004, Giugiaro embarked on this ambitious project using the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti as the canvas. Directed by Ferrari’s CEO Luca di Montezemolo, the design aimed to uphold tradition while offering a compact, enjoyable driving experience. Giugiaro’s meticulous process involved hand-sketching a 1:10 scale design, later validated in 3D through the Italdesign-Giugiaro Virtual Reality Design Center. The GG50’s exterior, inspired by the Scaglietti, boasts rounded angles in the nose and tail, creating an optical illusion of heightened compactness. The fastback tail, devoid of a third compartment, exudes a performance-oriented aesthetic. Giugiaro’s redesign includes a new fuel tank layout, enhancing loading capacity from 240 to 270 liters, reaching 500 liters with folded rear seats. Inside, the GG50 combines advanced technology with user-friendly design, featuring the AVIC – X1R satellite navigator by Pioneer and strategically placed storage pockets. With its dynamic exterior, innovative layout, and thoughtful interior features, the Ferrari GG50 stands as a testament to Giugiaro’s enduring legacy and Ferrari’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance and design.
