Revealed after several months of development, the 599 GTZ Nibbio stands as the latest in a long tradition of bespoke designs from Zagato, a company with nearly a century of experience in modifying luxury automobiles. The 599 GTZ Nibbio incorporates many of Zagato’s signature design elements, including the trademark “double-bubble” roof, a feature that has become a hallmark of Zagato’s design language over the decades. The car also features a bulbous nose, wide grille, and muscular haunches that contribute to its distinctive and aggressive stance. In fact, the modifications are so extensive that it’s difficult to recognize any original design elements from the Ferrari 599 GTB. The front of the 599 GTZ Nibbio evokes Ferrari’s racing cars of the early 1950s, particularly with its large, egg-crate grille and prominent air intakes where headlights would traditionally sit. However, the rear design of the car is entirely unique, creating a polarizing appearance that divides opinion among enthusiasts and collectors alike. Despite this, the model found enough favor for Zagato to produce a very limited run of just nine examples, two of which were Spyders. The exclusivity of the 599 GTZ Nibbio, combined with its striking design and bespoke craftsmanship, made it a highly coveted vehicle among collectors. In 2014, the cost of commissioning a 599 GTZ Nibbio Zagato—excluding the donor Ferrari 599 GTB—was a staggering €750,000. This price reflects the craftsmanship, rarity, and unmistakable style that Zagato infused into this ultra-limited creation, making it a true collector’s item in the world of luxury automobiles. With only seven ever built, the 599 GTZ Nibbio stands as a rare and remarkable fusion of Ferrari performance and Zagato’s legendary design.
