Ferrari 410 4.9 Super fast

Chassis

#0719SA

The Ferrari 410 4.9 Super fast by Pininfarina.

Vehicle Overview

The Ferrari 410 4.9 Superfast, chassis 0719SA, is a unique grand tourer built in 1957, based on the 410 Superamerica chassis. It was finished in Max Meyer 16229 metallic gentian blue with an ivory roof and a natural leather interior. This striking one-off was one of the most elegant and powerful road-going Ferraris of its era, blending high-performance engineering with luxurious styling. The car debuted at the 1957 Paris Motor Show, followed by an appearance at the Pininfarina stand at the Torino Car Show from October 10 to November 10, 1957. It was then sold to Jan de Vroom, a Dutch-born American Ferrari enthusiast. De Vroom, a well-known racer and collector, tragically met his end in 1975, leading to the car’s return to Luigi Chinetti’s dealership in 1973. In early 1973, Michael “Del” Lee of New Orleans acquired the car and added four to five white racing stripes (each 1¼ inches wide) across the front fenders and hood. Shortly after, it was jointly owned by John Delamater of Carmel, Indianapolis, and Allen Powell of Mishawaka, Indiana. The car was then repainted to its original factory colors before being sold in December 1973 to Norman Silver of High Point, North Carolina. By 1980, the Ferrari had passed to Greg Garrison, a well-known collector in Lakeside, Montana. During Garrison’s ownership, it was repainted metallic green with a white roof and underwent a mechanical overhaul by Bruno Borri of Modena Motors in Hollywood. The car became a staple at prestigious concours events, winning Best of Show at the Palm Springs Concours d’Elegance in November 1986 and earning second place in Class 36 at the International Ferrari Concours in Monterey in 1994. It also appeared at Pebble Beach Concours in 1994, Ferrari’s 50th-anniversary celebration in 1997, and the FCA National Concours in Los Angeles in 2002. In February 2003, the car was acquired by Lee Herrington of Bow, New Hampshire. Under his ownership, it won First in Class (M1) at the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours, as well as the prestigious Enzo Ferrari Trophy at the same event. In January 2008, it achieved Platinum status at the XVII Cavallino Classic. It continued its presence in the concours world, appearing at The Quail in Carmel Valley in August 2011 and competing in Class M4 at Pebble Beach in 2017. With its unique styling, race-derived performance, and illustrious history, the Ferrari 410 4.9 Superfast 0719SA remains one of the most distinguished one-offs in Ferrari’s legacy.
