The Ferrari 360 Modena Italdesign maquette embodies Giorgetto Giugiaro’s enduring dream of intertwining the renowned Italian automaker with the unique essence of Italdesign. Giugiaro, a visionary in car design, aspired to craft an official Ferrari under the Italdesign brand. This design maquette emerged as an alternative to Pininfarina’s proposal, showcasing a distinct Giorgetto Giugiaro styling that diverged from the production model chosen by Pininfarina. The rejection of the Italdesign proposal marked a clear deviation from the established norms, illustrating the challenges of introducing a fresh design perspective to an iconic brand. Undeterred, Giugiaro revisited his dream in 2005, presenting the concept of a personalized Ferrari. the GG50 to Luca di Montezemolo — a celebration of his remarkable 50-year legacy in car design. The GG50 remained his personal car for several years. In 2010, Italdesign courageously reentered the fray, competing against Pininfarina in the Ferrari FF design competition. Despite their creative prowess, Italdesign’s proposal faced disappointment, underscoring the fierce competition and adherence to tradition within the realm of Ferrari design.
