Vehicle Overview

The Ferrari 250 GT Interim is a significant model in Ferrari’s history, marking an important point in the brand’s development during the early 1960s. This vehicle is powered by a front longitudinal 60° V12 engine, a setup that offers both balance and exceptional performance. The engine features a light alloy cylinder block and head, optimizing weight and durability. It is equipped with a single overhead camshaft for each cylinder bank, which operates two valves per cylinder. The bore and stroke measure 73 x 58.8 mm, providing a total displacement of 2,953.21 cc. With a compression ratio of 8.5:1, the engine produces a maximum power of 240 bhp at 7,000 rpm, offering a remarkable driving experience. The transmission system of the Ferrari 250 GT Interim includes a multi-plate clutch coupled to a 4-speed gearbox with reverse, providing smooth shifts and reliable performance. A conventional differential ensures power is effectively transferred to the rear wheels, while the suspension system, consisting of an independent double wishbone front suspension with coil springs and a live axle rear suspension with semi-elliptic leaf springs, contributes to a comfortable ride and responsive handling. With a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and front and rear track widths of 1,354 mm and 1,349 mm, respectively, the 250 GT Interim maintains excellent stability and road grip. The vehicle weighs in at just 1,050 kg, thanks to its light construction, making it agile and quick on the road. The 100-litre fuel tank gives the car decent range, ensuring it’s capable of long drives or racing sessions. The design of the Ferrari 250 GT Interim is the work of the renowned Pininfarina, who gave it a sleek, aerodynamic shape that complements its performance capabilities. Unfortunately, one of the chassis (1523) was destroyed in a tragic crash at the Spa circuit when a tire blew, adding a somber chapter to its history.
