The Devel Sixteen is a hypercar that has captivated automotive enthusiasts worldwide, emerging as a groundbreaking creation from the United Arab Emirates. Developed by Devel Motors and built by Manifattura Automobili Torino in Italy, the Devel Sixteen claims to be the fastest car in the world, boasting extraordinary performance figures. With a purported top speed of 348 mph (560 km/h) and an incredible 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 1.8 seconds, this hypercar has made a significant impact on the high-performance automobile scene. Devel Motors offers three distinct models of the Sixteen. The base model features a V8 engine, producing an impressive 1,500–2,000 horsepower. The mid-level version takes it up a notch with a V16 engine that generates an astonishing 3,006 horsepower and 2,407 lb-ft of torque. For the ultimate experience, a track-only variant is available, equipped with a quad-turbo V16 engine that delivers a mind-blowing 5,007 horsepower and 3,757 lb-ft of torque. These power figures place the Devel Sixteen at the cutting edge of automotive engineering. The Devel Sixteen’s journey began in 2008, facing numerous challenges along the way. One significant hurdle was developing tires capable of handling the car’s incredible speed. In 2013, Devel Motors announced a target top speed of 560 km/h, presenting substantial challenges for tire technology. Despite delays, a V8-powered Sixteen was produced in June 2022, though its performance has yet to be fully confirmed. The heart of the Devel Sixteen is its 16-cylinder engine, composed of two V8 engines. This engineering marvel features a 7.2-liter displacement, four turbochargers with 81 mm diameters, and was developed with the expertise of Steve Morris Engines in the US. Depending on the engine configuration and boost pressure, the power output ranges from 3,000 hp (2,237 kW) to a staggering 5,007 hp (3,680 kW) for the racing version. The exterior design of the Devel Sixteen is equally impressive, with a carbon fiber body and a 3.46-meter wheelbase, creating a sleek and aerodynamic profile. Its design draws inspiration from the McDonnell Douglas F-15, featuring two large exhaust pipes at both the front and rear, giving it a distinct appearance. With a drag coefficient of 0.3, the Sixteen is optimized for minimal air resistance. Although the Devel Sixteen shares some components with the Corvette C8, it stands out as a unique and audacious creation, pushing the boundaries of hypercar engineering. Priced at $1.7 million, the Sixteen reflects the exclusivity and extraordinary performance capabilities of this remarkable machine. Tested at the Pininfarina Wind Tunnels and seen on the streets of Turin, the Devel Sixteen continues to edge closer to production, leaving a lasting mark on the legacy of high-performance automobiles.
