Citroën Karin

Vehicle Overview

The Citroën Karin was a concept car presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1980. It featured a striking, pyramidal design and was designed by Trevor Fiore. The Citroën Karin exterior incorporated flush glass panels, faired rear wheels, and butterfly doors. The roof of the Karin was only the size of an A3 sheet of paper due to its truncated pyramid shape. One of the Karin’s most noticeable interior features was the unique three-seat layout with the driver located in the middle of the two passengers. In addition to front-wheel drive and the typical hydro-pneumatics borrowed from the Citroën DS, the Karin had a further developed dashboard with a round dashboard support parallel to the steering wheel and control satellites or pushbuttons mounted on it as well as a telephone keypad and radio control behind and below the steering wheel. The center console was also innovative, with a joystick as the selector lever for the automatic transmission. Also among its features were a 4-cylinder engine, front wheel drive, and a hydropneumatic suspension like the .
