In just forty days, the Bizzarrini Manta, a revolutionary sport dream car, emerged from Italdesign, founded on February 13, 1968. Debuting at the Turin Motor Show in April, the Manta featured a tubular chassis by Giotto Bizzarrini, a powerful 400 cv Chevrolet 8V engine, reaching speeds of 330 km/h. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his newfound independence, it introduced innovative elements like a 15° raked windscreen, a controllable “venetian blind” window for enhanced visibility, brushed steel grid-covered sills, and a unique three-seat configuration. The Manta’s color evolution, from acid green to metal grey and back to green, encapsulates its lasting impact. Inspired by the Manta, the 2008 Quaranta paid homage to its pioneering design.
