The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Touring Aerlux.
The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Touring Aerlux is notable for its innovative panoramic sunroof, a feature that set it apart during its time. This model represents the penultimate evolution of the 6C 2500 series, which itself was an evolution of the 6C 2300. The first 6C 2500 Touring made its debut at the 1939 Berlin Motor Show, marking the beginning of a lineage that would see continuous refinement. Touring, the renowned coachbuilder, developed several versions of the 6C 2500, primarily on the Sports and Super Sports chassis. They introduced stylistic enhancements even during the challenging World War II period, demonstrating a commitment to innovation despite the limitations imposed by the post-war crisis. Felice Bianchi Anderloni and his son, Ing. Carlo Felice, persisted in their research and design efforts, resulting in some remarkable cars. One such example is the 1948 Super Sport with the patented “Aerlux” sunroof. The term “Aerlux” is derived from Latin, meaning “air and light,” reflecting the car’s emphasis on providing an airy and bright driving experience. This particular model was owned by Count Gaetano Marzotto di Valdagno, the father of the more famous racing driver Giannino Marzotto. Count Gaetano used the car for several years as his preferred family vehicle, highlighting its blend of luxury and performance. The 6C 2500 SS Touring Aerlux exemplifies the blend of elegance and engineering excellence characteristic of Alfa Romeo and Touring collaborations. The inclusion of the panoramic sunroof not only added to the car’s aesthetic appeal but also enhanced the driving experience, making it a standout model in the history of Italian automotive design.
