The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Supergioiello by Carrozzeria Ghia.
The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Coupé, featuring bespoke bodywork by Carrozzeria Ghia, is a rare gem in automotive history, renowned for its exclusivity and exceptional condition. Dubbed the “Supergioiello” or “jewel” coupe, this model is a prime example of Ghia’s craftsmanship and innovation from the post-war era. In 1950, Carrozzeria Ghia crafted only four of these distinctive Supergioiello coupes, each a testament to the blending of Alfa Romeo’s engineering prowess with Ghia’s elegant design. Of the four examples, three were built on the standard Alfa Romeo chassis, with one of these featuring a notable large front grille (#915.762). The fourth and final Supergioiello was constructed on a more advanced tubular chassis manufactured by Gilco Milano, reflecting the progressive design philosophy of the time. The Alfa Romeo 6C Supergioiello by Ghia was designed Giovanni Michelotti to embody both luxury and performance. Its streamlined bodywork, characterized by smooth curves and an elegant silhouette, was a departure from the more angular designs prevalent in the pre-war period. This design not only enhanced the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal but also contributed to its aerodynamic efficiency, underscoring Ghia’s commitment to both form and function. Today, the Alfa Romeo 6C Supergioiello by Carrozzeria Ghia stands as a finely restored example of automotive artistry and engineering excellence. Its rarity—being one of only four ever produced—adds to its allure and significance among collectors and enthusiasts. The restoration has preserved the car’s original charm while ensuring that its historic and aesthetic value is maintained. The Supergioiello’s legacy is a reflection of a golden age of design, where bespoke craftsmanship and innovative engineering came together to create a masterpiece. As one of the few remaining examples, this Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Coupé continues to captivate those who appreciate its blend of rarity, elegance, and historical significance.
