The Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint: In the first half of 1955, Touring worked on a new, more modern version of the 1900C Super Sprint, for which it built two prototypes, a Coupé and a Spider, called SS Tipo 55 “Ginevra”. These designs were declined by Alfa Romeo, officially due to their high production costs, more likely because too different from the car maker’s aesthetic canons of the time. Touring then designed one last magnificent version, signed by Federico Formenti, which complied with Alfa’s stylistic guidelines. Despite its elegant, sleek lines, the new Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint II Serie was nicknamed “Giuliettona” for its resemblance to the Giulietta Spider. It was produced for two years, before it was replaced by the new Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Touring.
