The AC 428 Convertible, designed by the esteemed Pietro Frua, stands as a direct descendant of the legendary AC/Shelby Cobra, transforming the fiery Anglo-American sports car into a luxurious, high-performance grand tourer. Assembled in Thames-Ditton, the AC 428 Convertible Frua utilized a coil-sprung AC Cobra chassis and was powered by Ford’s formidable 428 FE V8 engine. Production of this rare gem concluded in 1973, with only 51 Coupes and 29 Convertibles ever built, making surviving examples highly sought-after by collectors. This particular vehicle boasts a fascinating provenance, having been originally owned by Rob Walker, the heir to the Johnnie Walker Whisky fortune and the principal of Rob Walker Racing. Chassis CF 14 benefits from a meticulously executed cosmetic restoration, presenting in a striking red exterior over black trim and fitted with wire wheels.
