In 1956 Abarth started road car production with Fiat 600 based models. The Abarth 750 GT version became best known with the iconic Zagato made fastback coupe body, but in the early years other body styles were considered as well, like this hardtop coupe style by coachbuilder Viotti.
The Abarth 750 Coupé Viotti, a captivating piece of automotive history, emerged in the late 1950s as a testament to Abarth’s commitment to performance and style. In 1957, the spotlight fell on the Abarth 750 Goccia, showcasing a Vignale body that hinted at the car’s potential on the racing circuit. The following year witnessed the introduction of the 750 Spyder by Allemano, a sleek convertible design that would later spawn a rare and elegant coupe variant. Stepping into the limelight in 1959, the Abarth 750 GT by Viotti stands as a testament to exclusivity, with only a handful ever produced. Among these, the showcased vehicle holds a unique distinction as Abarth’s prototype, representing a blend of engineering prowess and innovative design. Viotti, in collaboration with renowned designer Giovanni Michelotti, also extended the same captivating body design to the standard Fiat 600 chassis, resulting in approximately 100 specimens of this stylish model. The Abarth 750 Coupé Viotti remains a rare gem in automotive history, with its limited production adding to its allure. Its evolution into the better-known Abarth 850 Scorpione coupe by Allemano further cements its legacy as a symbol of performance and sophistication from an era defined by automotive ingenuity.
