Tom Scott is a renowned industrial designer whose career spans over five decades, during which he has made significant contributions to the fields of automotive design, renewable energy, and innovative product development. A graduate of the prestigious Glasgow School of Art in 1969, where he earned a degree in Industrial Design, Scott has consistently applied his forward-thinking philosophy to create groundbreaking designs that blend aesthetics with cutting-edge technology.

Scott began his career at Bombardier Ltd in Montreal, where he contributed to the design and development of a range of recreational watercraft and snow vehicles. In 1973, he joined Ford Motor Company, where he spent nearly three decades in various executive roles. As Vice President of Ghia Spa in Turin, Italy, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Italian design house’s renowned automotive concepts, including the Lincoln Sentinel. At Ford, his expertise spanned interior, exterior, and color and trim design, as well as advanced and international design projects for Ford of Europe and Ford USA.

Following his tenure at Ford, Scott founded Holographic Imaging LLC in 2001, where he developed cutting-edge holographic imaging tools for Ford Motor Company and the British Government’s QinetiQ group, earning recognition for innovation. He later served as President and CEO of Viewtek LLC, leading the development of wind turbines, energy storage devices, executive recreational vehicles, and green energy products for the U.S. military.

In 2018, Scott founded Tom Scott Design, where he continues to offer his expertise in design management as a consultant. His work is marked by a commitment to solving problems innovatively, integrating design processes into the digital age, and enhancing quality while reducing costs and timelines.

An educator and patent holder, Scott has taught at institutions like the Royal College of Art in London and ArtCenter in California, leaving an enduring impact on design education and practice.
