Flavio Manzoni (born January 7, 1965, in Nuoro, Italy) is an accomplished Italian designer and architect, best known for his role as the Chief Design Officer at Ferrari, a position he has held since 2010. He has been instrumental in the design of numerous iconic Ferrari models, including the LaFerrari, Ferrari F12berlinetta, and Ferrari Purosangue, among others. Throughout his career, Manzoni has earned multiple prestigious awards, including four Compassi d’Oro, one for the Ferrari F12berlinetta (2014), the Ferrari FXX K (2016), the Ferrari Monza SP1 (2020), and the Ferrari Purosangue (2024).
Manzoni’s career in automotive design began with his studies in architecture at the University of Florence, where he developed an interest in automotive design under the guidance of professors Giovanni Klaus Koenig and Roberto Segoni. In 1993, he joined the Lancia design center, initially focusing on interior design and later leading the development of interiors for the Lancia Dialogos concept and Maserati 3200 GT. His design expertise expanded during his time at SEAT, where he was responsible for interior design, notably for the SEAT Altea and León models.
In 2001, Manzoni returned to Lancia as the Director of the Design Center, working on significant projects such as the Lancia Ypsilon and Lancia Musa, which earned the European Automotive Design Award. He also contributed to the Lancia Fulvia concept, which was presented at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After working for Fiat and Volkswagen Group, where he contributed to the design of the Audi A1 and Volkswagen Scirocco, Manzoni joined Ferrari in 2010. As Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer, Manzoni has led the creation of several groundbreaking models, including the Ferrari FF, LaFerrari, and the Ferrari 812 Superfast. His design vision for Ferrari combines performance with aesthetic refinement, earning him widespread acclaim within the automotive industry.
Manzoni’s influence extends beyond automotive design, with contributions to luxury items such as the Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT watch and recognition from academic institutions, including honorary degrees from the University of Sassari and the University of Florence. He continues to shape the future of Ferrari’s design, celebrating innovation and performance through his creative leadership.
