Introduce

Filippo Perini, born in Piacenza on April 13, 1965, is an influential Italian automotive designer. He has significantly contributed to the development of iconic car designs for major manufacturers, most notably Lamborghini and Italdesign.

Perini’s career began after he graduated in mechanical engineering from the Politecnico di Milano. He initially worked as an external collaborator for Alfa Romeo, where he participated in various projects. His professional trajectory shifted when he joined the Alfa Romeo Style Center, where he was instrumental in shaping the design of several notable models, including the GTV and Spider (1995), the 156 (1997), and the 166 (1998). Perini’s work also extended to concept cars like the Nuvola and Kamal. In 2001, he was appointed head of exterior design, and under his leadership, the Alfa Romeo 147 and the 8C Competizione concept were created, the latter being unveiled in 2002.

In 2003, Perini transitioned to Audi, joining the company’s design team under the direction of Walter de Silva. His time there paved the way for his next major role in 2004, when he became the exterior design director at Lamborghini. Working alongside Luc Donckerwolke, Perini contributed to the evolution of the Murciélago and Gallardo models. He also worked on the Lamborghini Miura concept car. By 2006, he was promoted to head of design at Lamborghini, where he played a key role in the development of the Aventador and Huracán, two flagship models for the brand. Additionally, he oversaw the creation of limited-edition models like the Reventón, Aventador J, Veneno, and Centenario.

In 2015, after Walter de Silva became president of Italdesign, Perini was appointed design director at the company. He continued his work in the luxury car market, creating the Zerouno coupe and Duerta roadster for Italdesign Automobili Speciali. His innovative concepts included the electric GTZero shooting brake, the DaVinci prototype to commemorate Leonardo da Vinci’s 500th death anniversary, and the vertical take-off PopUp module developed in collaboration with Airbus. Perini also oversaw the creation of the limited-production GT-R50 by Italdesign in partnership with Nissan.

In September 2019, Perini took on the role of design director at Genesis Advanced Design Studio Europe, a position he held until 2021. His career reflects a seamless blend of creativity, innovation, and a passion for cutting-edge automotive design.
