Amantea’s journey in automotive design began after he completed his education at IDEA Institute in 2005, where he undertook an internship with Tata Motors on the Indica project. His career trajectory took off when he joined Fiat, where he worked on several key projects, including the Fiat 500 and Fiat 500 Abarth. His role as a designer and modeler for the Lancia Delta HPE Concept Show Car in 2006 was one of the highlights of his early career.
Amantea continued to grow in prominence as he contributed to the development of several high-profile projects. His work at FCA Group included designing the Maserati Kubang Concept for the Detroit Show in 2011 and the Alfa Romeo 4C Concept, where he worked on both the interior and exterior design. He also played a significant role in the Maserati Levante interior proposal.
His talent caught the attention of Italdesign Giugiaro, where he worked on a range of significant projects, such as the Bentley Bentayga SUV, which he designed as the main designer, as well as the Audi TT Shooting Brake, the Audi A4 Proportion Model, and many other internal projects for Volkswagen Group brands such as Audi, Bentley, and Lamborghini.
In 2017, Amantea joined NIO, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, where he worked on the design of the NIO ET7 GT Sedan and the NIO ES6 Compact SUV. His skills were further honed during his time at Land Rover, where he was involved in the design of the Discovery Sport MY19 and Defender Master Model.
Since 2018, Amantea has held the position of Chief Designer at Automobili Pininfarina, where he has overseen the design of several groundbreaking vehicles. These include the APF Battista, a hypercar that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, the APF Battista Verde Paradiso Villa D’Este edition (which won the 2021 Design Award), and the APF Pura Vision Concept. He has also played a pivotal role in the development of the APF B95 1st Barchetta Full EV, marking a significant step in the future of electric mobility.
Amantea’s career exemplifies a deep understanding of both design and innovation, and he continues to shape the future of luxury electric vehicles with his exceptional design expertise.
