Aldo Garnero

Aldo Garnero is a distinguished Italian designer whose career has spanned across several sectors of the automotive and industrial design industries. His professional journey began at a very young age in the Pininfarina prototype department, where he gained invaluable experience that laid the foundation for his future success. Over the years, Garnero transitioned into other roles and eventually moved to the Centro Stile Lancia. It was during this time that he began working on his own styling designs, including the iconic Lancia Beta Coupe and HPE, which became hallmark designs of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Garnero’s career took another significant turn in the early 1980s when he briefly joined Open Design before embarking on an independent path as a freelance designer in 1983. His freelance work allowed him to collaborate with a variety of firms and manufacturers, and in 1986, he co-founded Euro Design Engineering, establishing a partnership with notable French companies such as Sterling Design, Tesco, and Modicar. This move expanded his design influence beyond automotive projects and into other areas of industrial design and graphic design.

Among Garnero’s most notable contributions to the automotive industry is his work on the Fiat Panda Destriero concept car, developed for the Stola design firm in 1992. This project became a significant example of innovative automotive design, showcasing Garnero’s creativity and forward-thinking approach. In the 1990s, Garnero also worked on several important projects for the Maggiora Group, including the Cinquecento Cita, Birba, Punto Grama, and Citymagg. These designs were emblematic of the era’s evolving design language, with Garnero’s flair for creating functional yet aesthetically pleasing cars.

Garnero’s expertise in design spans beyond just automobiles, as his work extends into the wider realms of industrial and graphic design. His ability to blend creativity with technical knowledge has made him a prominent figure in the design world, known for his contributions to both car manufacturers like Nissan and Lamborghini, as well as numerous other design sectors.
