The activity of Cesare Sala, located in Milan began initially aimed at the construction of carriages with animal towing: it was therefore a "coach" rather than a bodywork. Among his first works concerning this sector, the carriages for some prominent personalities of the Austrian and Piedmontese aristocracy are remembered. In 1871 the coachbuilder is present at the Italian Industrial Exhibition held in Milan with two carriages, one set up for the Prince of Naples. Between 1873 and 1877 Cesare Sala set up a large gala carriage for King Vittorio Emanuele II. In the first few years of the twentieth century, with the increasing success and spread of the automobile, the company began to devote itself to the construction of car bodies. It soon became known for its elegant and prestigious achievements, which included masterpieces of undisputed value. "Cesare Sala" has built bodies on Alfa Romeo, FIAT, Lancia, Isotta Fraschini and Ansaldo chassis. Cesare Sala bodywork closed its doors in 1933.
