Carrozzeria Coggiola, based in Turin, Italy, has been a renowned name in automotive and aeronautical design since its founding in 1966. Established by Sergio Coggiola, a highly skilled industrial designer with 14 years of experience at Ghia as both a draftsman and head of the technical office, the company quickly gained recognition for its expertise in crafting innovative bodywork.

In 1969, Carrozzeria Coggiola began a long-standing partnership with the Swedish automaker Saab. This collaboration led to remarkable achievements in both production models, such as the Saab Sonett III and Saab 9000, and groundbreaking prototypes like the Saab 98 Combi Coupé. Throughout the 1970s, the company expanded its scope, creating prototypes based on vehicles such as the Lancia Fulvia, Volvo P1800, and Pontiac Grand Prix, while continuing its work with Saab.

The following decades were equally dynamic for Coggiola. In the 1980s, it developed innovative concepts like the Citroën Visa Convertible and several prototypes for Audi. Notably, the Renault Mégane prototype debuted in 1988, later lending its name to one of Renault's best-selling models. Two years later, Coggiola designed the Scénic prototype, which also influenced future Renault production vehicles. A defining aspect of Coggiola’s work has always been its focus on engineering bodywork to optimize safety and torsional rigidity.

The 1990s saw the creation of prototypes for a wide range of brands, including Fiat, Lancia, Opel, and Mercedes-Benz. During this period, Coggiola also collaborated with Pininfarina on exclusive projects for the Royal Family of Brunei, crafting bespoke luxury vehicles tailored to the family's exacting standards. One standout project from this decade was the modular VRC prototype, a vehicle with a unique removable and interchangeable roof system that allowed it to transform into various body styles while retaining the same core structure.

The momentum continued into the 2000s, with projects such as the T-Rex prototype, a massive SUV, and the Toyota 735N, an innovative minivan featuring a highly aerodynamic profile.

In addition to its achievements in the automotive world, Carrozzeria Coggiola has also made significant contributions to aeronautical design, particularly in the field of helicopters. This versatility and dedication to innovation have solidified its legacy as a leader in design and craftsmanship across industries.
