Lamborghini Acosta
The Lamborghini Acosta codename P147 (or L147) the internal design code was identified for a sports car with which Lamborghini Automobili intended to replace the then flagship Diablo.
Vehicle Overview
The Lamborghini Acosta: Strengthened by the authorship of all previous Lamborghini masterpieces, the other project for the Diablo heir was entrusted to Marcello Gandini, who had worked already with Lamborghini with Bertone and is now operating on his own. Gandini’s creation also had proportions conforming to the style of the house of the bull, but presented even more original and controversial solutions. The thin headlights were joined by a notch that created a marked transverse step on the hood. The large rear air intakes (a sign that this second study group had also encountered the same cooling problems highlighted by Zagato) were more squashed and balanced than those of the Canto, but were followed by equally large vents that ended near the tail. A small spoiler was inserted above the bonnet just behind the passenger compartment. In general, the design of the Lamborghini Acosta was more squared than that of the competitor but this too was deemed too personal and innovative.
