The Fiat Ecobasic is an ecological concept car built by the Italian car manufacturer FIAT in collaboration with Zagato in 2000. The prototype should have been unveiled by the Turin-based company in December 1999 at the Bologna Motorshow, but it was then decided to postpone its presentation at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2000. The Ecobasic possesses avant-garde features for the time, including which aluminum structure. The Fiat Ecobasic has been homologated according to Euro NCAP standards; moreover, the materials that cover the structure are all recyclable. The design of the concept has been carefully studied in collaboration with Zagato in the wind tunnel, boasting an aerodynamic drag coefficient of only 0.28. The interior of the Ecobasic is very simple, but at the same time functional and original as befits a city car: the dashboard is reduced to the essentials, the front and rear seats are very comfortable, and the space for passengers is equivalent to 88% of the total. The engine with which the concept is equipped is a 61 HP 1.2 16v turbodiesel equipped with common rail technology; the car reaches a self-limited top speed of 160 km / h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 13 seconds. The gearbox is automatic with 5 ratios. The Fiat Ecobasic has a declared consumption of 2.8l / 100 km.
