The Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato.
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupé Zagato was a grand tourer from the 1980s, renowned for its rarity and distinctive design. Between 1986 and 1990, only 51 coupes and 38 convertibles were produced, making it a highly sought-after vehicle among collectors and enthusiasts. The coupe made its debut at the 1986 Geneva Motor Show, where it immediately captured attention and interest. Remarkably, orders were swiftly taken despite only a drawing of the car being shown, underscoring the anticipation and demand for this exclusive model. The decision to build the convertible version of the V8 Vantage Zagato was controversial. By the time the convertible was considered, all 51 coupes had already been sold, fueled by the peak of the supercar speculation market. This situation rendered the convertibles even more desirable than their already coveted predecessors. The V8 Zagato’s name reflects its heritage, being based on the Aston Martin V8, but featuring a distinctive body crafted by the famed Italian coachbuilder Zagato. Zagato’s design for the V8 Vantage was a modern and angular reinterpretation of the classic Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato from the 1960s. One of the most debated features of the new design was its squared-off grille, which diverged from traditional Aston Martin aesthetics and sparked significant discussion among enthusiasts and critics alike. Under the hood, the V8 Vantage Zagato was powered by a robust 430 hp (321 kW) V8 engine, equipped with twin choke Weber carburetors. This all-alloy car was capable of reaching speeds up to 300 km/h (186 mph), reflecting its high-performance credentials.
